Batteries
Question - What does a long continual beep from my digital lock or numerical keypad lock mean?
Answer – Battery needs to be replaced.
Identification of Keys
Question – Can SMP re-cut my safe keys?
Answer – We will always need a sample of the key that you want re cut and also written permission from the Head of Security or individual in charge. If you haven’t got a key sample then we can send out one of our service employees who will analyse the lock to establish the right key cutting for the lock.
Question – How do I identify the key to SMP service when on a service phone call?
Answer – The keys have to be identified by the words on the bow of the key. E.g. Mauer/L&F/SMP, noting the length of the key and type of bit either single or double bitted.
Question - If I have an old safe how to I find out whether it is manufactured by SMP?
Answer – The word SMP should be stamped on the top hinge of the safe or the end middle moving of the locking bolts normally on the centre one.

Question – How far does the door swing out on all SMP safes?
Answer – 90 degrees out to 180 degrees if space allows.
Question – Do SLS safes belong to SMP?
Answer – SLS was purchased by SMP in 1984 from the Wormald group we continue on to manufacture SLS cash safes for the Far East.
Question - Do SMP service and repair SLS Safes?
SMP will service and repair any type of safe, it does not necessarily need to be manufactured by SMP. Therefore our service department will fulfil any service requirements and repairs on SLS safes and other manufactured safes.
