around the UK.

We’re proud to be the number one safe manufacturer based within the UK,
highlighting the craftsmanship of our Made in Britain products.
Throughout the manufacture process we uphold the high quality
set through independent testing and certification in line with both
British and European standards.

We are members of the British Safe and Vault Trade Association,
the Master Locksmiths Association and all of our high-security products are
manufactured in line with the approval of the Association of Insurance Surveyors.

History

Secure Mechanical Products

Secure Mechanical Products or SMP Security as we are now more commonly known, was founded in 1974. The mainstay of the business was general engineering and fabrication, including mould making for precast concrete companies and security fencing before we moved into the manufacture of the high-security solutions we provide to this day.

With 45 years in the manufacturing industry and over 40 years’ experience in the manufacture of safes, we have developed a vast amount of knowledge and expertise in providing bespoke security solutions to businesses, banks, jewellers and residential homes.

At SMP Security, we take great pride in our ability to create exceptional security solutions that are manufactured right here in the UK, all within the confines of our Telford facility. Situated in close proximity to the Ironbridge Gorge area, which holds significant historical importance as a hub of The Industrial Revolution, Telford has rightfully earned the title of ‘The Birthplace of Industry’.

Since our inception in 1974, SMP Security has called Telford its home, and we couldn’t be prouder. Not only do we carry the esteemed label of a Made in Britain company, but we also contribute to the economic growth of the town that has nurtured our growth and success.
